Tom Thibodeau not yet changing Knicks’ starting lineup after ‘bulls–t’ rant

The day after Tom Thibodeau went off on the notion that his starting lineup needs time to develop chemistry, the Knicks’ coach said he wasn’t ready to make any changes.

Thibodeau has thought about making adjustments to his first unit — “you think about everything all the time,” he said on Thursday after practice — but he isn’t ready to pull the trigger yet.

“You know we basically have a 10-man rotation. As we get some rhythms, we will start mixing and matching some more,” Thibodeau said. “The second unit has been together longer. They have a chemistry and we have to make sure everything is tied together. There has to be connectivity between both groups and with each other when they are on the floor.”

The starters struggled immensely in Wednesday’s 112-100 loss to the Bucks. Thibodeau sat them for the final 14:02 of the defeat, and the bench rallied the Knicks from a 24-point, third-quarter deficit before running out of gas.

“It’s not really a first group, second group [thing],” he said. “It’s more our team. … You have to be honest like we didn’t play well at this stretch. Why is it we didn’t play well during that stretch? That’s something we have to concentrate on and try to make the connections we didn’t make. The challenge is to try to bring the best out of everyone.”
