Andy Pettitte’s son Jared signs with Derek Jeter’s Marlins

Looks like Derek Jeter will once again be working with a Pettitte.

Jared Pettitte, son of former Yankees Core Four pitcher Andy Pettitte was signed by Jeter and the Marlins an undrafted free agent on Tuesday, the Associated Press first reported.

“It’s literally a dream come true,” Jared Pettitte told Fox 26 KRIV in Houston. “All I wanted was an opportunity to play professional baseball.”

He was not selected in this year’s MLB draft.

The 23-year-old lefty pitched for Dallas Baptist University and had a 5.81 ERA with and 26 strikeouts in 13 games. In his best game last season, Pettitte threw 4 1/3 hitless innings against Illinois State.

He led his Houston high school — which was coached by former MLBer Lance Berkman — to a state title in 2016. That season, Pettite posted a 1.20 ERA and a 12-1 record.

Pettitte’s father played with Jeter — now the Marlins CEO — for 15 seasons and won five World Series titles together in 1996, ’98, ’99, 2000 and 2009.

Andy Pettitte played 18 MLB seasons, 15 with the Yankees and three with the Astros from 2004-06. He had a 3.85 ERA with a 256-153 record.

He was an All-Star in 1996, 2001 and 2010 and had five top-six finishes in Cy Young Award voting.
