
Celine Dion has canceled 42 European concerts and will not return to the stage until at least the middle of next year, citing ongoing health issues, the famous singer told disappointed fans on Friday.
The 55 year old singer had settled in pPerforming three times in Amsterdam from August 26-28 in a 42-show run that would end with two dates at The O2 in London on April 21-22.
“It is with tremendous disappointment that we have to announce today the cancellation of the Courage World Tour,” his team said in a statement.
“Celine has continued to receive treatment for a diagnosed medical condition that prevents her from performing.”
Last year, Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, drawing public attention to this rare neurological disorder, which affects approximately one to two in every million people.
“I am so sorry to disappoint you all once again. I’m working very hard to get my strength back, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re at 100%,” Dion, a Quebec native, said in remarks in English and French on Friday.
“It’s not fair to you guys to keep postponing shows, and even though it breaks my heart, we better cancel everything now until I’m really ready to go back on stage. I want everyone to know that I’m not giving up…and I can’t! wait to see you again!”
All tickets will be refunded at “the original point of sale,” his team said.
The singer promised to reschedule all the cities she was scheduled to visit.
The Amsterdam show was supposed to kick off the fall leg of their tour with stops in Paris, Antwerp, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki.
The last Helsinki show was set for October 4 before a break and restart scheduled for Prague on March 6 next year, followed by Lodz, Krakow, Zurich, Zagreb, Cologne, Berlin, Munich, Budapest, Vienna, Hamburg. , Mannheim, Dublin. , Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham before the tour ends in London.
The world tour of courage began in the fall of 2019 and made a series of stops in the United States before the Covid-19 pandemic brought an unexpected curtain on world music.
