
A woman involved in a Sacramento police chase died Saturday morning after being hit by several vehicles on the freeway, authorities said. Sacramento Police Department officers were pursuing a vehicle around 3:50 a.m., but lost sight of Business 80 in Marysville. Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle then crashed on the Marysville on-ramp in the eastbound lanes. An unknown number of people exited the vehicle and fled, CHP said. Then, one of the people was hit by several vehicles. CHP said it is not known how many vehicles hit her, but authorities believe the first one to hit her was a large vehicle. Two of the vehicles that hit her body stopped and remained at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the person as 19-year-old Fatiina Chaney. Sacramento police said officers were pursuing the vehicle due to a code violation. When asked if there was anything illegal or incriminating that could cause the vehicle to flee from officers, police said investigators are still gathering evidence.
