The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early Sunday morning in Orange County. Troopers said the crash occurred around 3:43 a.m. Sunday on Edgewater Drive, approaching Hambleton Avenue from the south. They believe a 2005 Ford Excursion went off the road onto the right side of the road and collided with a pole. The Ford then collided with the Hainaut Contemporary Centre, another pole, a parked Jeep Cherokee and a pedestrian. That pedestrian, a 19-year-old Orlando man, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. A person inside the building was hit by debris and suffered minor injuries. Witnesses told FHP that the driver and possibly three passengers of the Ford fled the scene on foot. They said the people in the Ford fled west on Edgewater Drive toward John Young Parkway. They said the occupants appeared to be Hispanic men. Edgewater Drive is reportedly still closed in both directions at Hambleton Ave on Sunday morning. FHP agents took the Ford into evidence as they continued their investigation. FHP is asking anyone with information about this crash to contact them at *347 or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
