It’s been nine long months since Supergiant Games was announced hell 2the sequel to Polygon’s 2020 Game of the Year hell. On Thursday, the developer finally broke its silence and offered an update on the game: hell 2 It will be released in early access on Steam and Epic Games Store in the second quarter of 2024, between April and June of next year.
“You might be wondering, why can’t we release it in Early Access right now?” the developer wrote in a blog post. “The reason is, hell 2 will have at least as much content from day one in Early Access as the original game did when it launched in Early Access on Steam. And, while early access inherently means a game isn’t complete yet, we still want to do everything we can to make sure Hades II is worth your time as soon as you can play it in any capacity.”
In the same blog post, Supergiant announced that it will conduct a technical test with a limited sample of players shortly before the game’s Early Access release and, as with the 2020 Early Access development, hell, hell 2The Early Access release will include several major updates with core content and gameplay improvements based on player feedback.
“We still don’t know exactly how long it will take us to get to version 1.0 of hell 2“Supergiant explained. “For now, our focus is to continue creating core content (environments, characters, weapons, perks, story events, music, and more) as we prepare for our technical test and early access launch in the second quarter of next year.”
hell 2 will focus on Melinoë, the princess of the underworld and sister of Hell’ protagonist Zagreus, as he embarks on a journey to save his father from Chronos, the Titan of Time. Along the way, Melinoë will be aided by her mentor Hecate, the goddess of witchcraft, as well as other gods and Olympian heroes.
