How to get black diamonds in exchange for Moria

black diamond It is one of the most vital resources in Return to Moria. You are introduced to the concept of Black Diamonds from the beginning. As soon as you reach the first camp within the first half hour or so, you will find a ruined map stone inside, which requires a black diamond to repair.

However, the survival game doesn’t give any indication as to how you can get a Black Diamond, so you have to find out for yourself. There is a high chance that you will find more ruined maps before finding black diamonds, and fast traveling is very welcome since traveling on foot can be quite slow in Return to Moriawe have all the information on how to get black diamonds.

How to get black diamonds in exchange for Moria

There are three methods to get black diamonds on Return to Moria:

  • Loot Ork Chests
  • Kill enemies during a horde attack
  • Defeat the bosses

The first time you will find Ork chests is when you reach the Elven Cavern, the next important location after building your first camp. You’ll also encounter slightly tougher enemies here in the form of bears and goblin men, so you’ll want to make sure you have, at a minimum, an iron sword, breastplate, and gloves.

There are small groups of weregoblins throughout the Elf Cavern, all of them found near hanging lights and meat on a spit. Once you’ve killed them, destroy the pole holding the lights. This will prevent the goblin men from respawning, but more importantly, it will drop an Orc Key. Somewhere nearby there will be an orc chest. There is no guarantee, but an orc chest has a chance to contain black diamonds. It seems that the further you go in Moria, the higher the chances of finding black diamonds in Ork chests.

Alternatively, you can obtain Black Diamonds by killing enemies during a horde attack. You won’t find them until you reach (and power up) the Great Forge for the first time, at which point the noise of the attack will summon a horde.

Hordes are made up of several different types of enemies, but they are all usually weaker than enemies of the same type that you will encounter while exploring. Goblins in a horde fall in one hit, compared to the three or four they usually receive. Once you’ve eliminated the horde, scour the ground for all the loot and load up your inventory. There will be a lot there, including the chance to find a Black Diamond or two.

Finally, you can defeat the bosses for a chance to receive many Black Diamonds in one go. Bolgakh, the boss found deep in the Mines of Moria, is one example, or you can find more bosses within Orc City. Killing them can drop more than 10 black diamonds at a time, but as expected, they are much harder to remove.

Ultimately, black diamonds are a very valuable resource – use them wisely whenever you acquire them.

The fastest way to get Black Diamonds in Return to Moria

Which of the three methods above is the fastest way to get Black Diamonds? None of them are guaranteed, but if you want to rebuild a ruined map as soon as possible, your best bet is to search the mines of Moria and beyond for Ork chests. This is where the drop rate seems to increase, although orc camps and chests are also a little harder to find.

If you’re strong enough, the most reliable method is definitely killing bosses, thanks to the amount of Black Diamonds you can loot in one go. Getting strong enough for that takes some time, though, so keep hunting Ork chests for now.
