
The British Fashion Council (BFC) on Thursday revealed the names of the designers competing for the title of Designer of the Year at next month’s Fashion Awards.

The event, which is the main fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, has several big star names on the list of nominees, including Burberry’s Daniel Lee, JW Anderson and Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson, Bottega Veneta’s Matthieu Blazy, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons for Prada and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
The BFC also announced the nominees for another key title: the BFC Foundation Award. As this is the 30th year of BFC NewGen, the shortlist focuses on this initiative and includes Aaron Esh, Chet Lo, Conner Ives, Paolo Carzana and Sinéad O’Dwyer.
The body had previously announced that Charlotte Tilbury and Sarah Mower will receive special recognition awards and that this year’s Outstanding Achievement title will go to Valentino Garavani.
He also said in September that among the nominees for British Womenswear Designer of the Year is Erdem Moralıoğlu for Erdem., Maximiliano Davis for Ferragamo, Nensi Dojaka, Roksanda Ilinčić by Roksanda and Simone Rocha.
And the nominees for British Menswear Designer of the Year are Grace Wales Bonner for Wales Bonner., Kiko Kostadinov and Kim Jones for Dior Men, Martine Rose and Steven Stokey-Daley of SS Daley.
