A good piece of Super Mario RPGyou will have to go to Sunken ship, an area filled with ghosts and, eventually, sharks. The big sunken ship puzzle involves going through different hallways and solving smaller puzzles to unlock clues and discover what secret password is.
It is not necessary to solve all the previous puzzle rooms to get the code. If you know the password, you can enter it and skip all that. There are However, you do get extra items as rewards (like flowers), so if you’re craving more things, you should solve those puzzles.

Super Mario RPG Sunken Ship Password Puzzle Solution
The password is “PEARLS.” Just hit each of the six blocks and select the corresponding letter to spell it.
Importantly, be sure to read which block is correlated with each letter. Key letter 1 should be set to P, key letter 2 should be set to E, key letter 3 should be set to A, and so on until it spells “PEARLS.”

They are not in order from left to right as you might expect, so if the game says the password is incorrect, this is probably why. In a way, it goes from left to right and then from right to left. See the image above for reference.
Once you enter the password, interact with the tuba-speaker behind the letters. Once you do, prepare to face a boss and fight your way through more rats and fish before reaching the end of the sunken ship.
