In the latest announcement for a new creative director, Italian luxury brand Blumarine has appointed Walter Chiapponi as its creative director after a career at some of Europe’s biggest names.

The Milanese designer, who studied at the European Institute of Design, first entered the industry in the late 1990s with Alessandro Dell’Acqua and has since worked with major brands such as Givenchy, Valentino, Gucci, Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta and, more recently, Tod’s.
His first collection for Blumarine, for AW24, will be unveiled during Milan Fashion Week next February.
Marco Marchi, sole director of Eccellenze Italiane, the holding company that owns Blumarine, said: “I am confident that Walter Chiapponi, with his internationally recognized talent and fine stylistic sensibility, will bring new energy to Blumarine while honoring the extraordinary legacy of the brand. “I am proud to write an important new chapter with Walter.”
For her part, Chiapponi added: “I am delighted to have been appointed creative director of an iconic Italian brand that has outlined over time an idea of femininity defined by lightness and creativity. The possibility of contributing to establishing a new stage for Blumarine is for me an opportunity to embrace exciting and important new horizons, expand my vision and give meaning back to artistic expression.”
